Pilates

Pilates

Pilates is an exercise system that focuses on stretching and strengthening the whole body to improve balance, muscle-strength, flexibility and posture.

It was created by German-born Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s and incorporates elements of yoga, martial arts and Western forms of exercise.

Initially adopted by professional dancers in the US as an effective form of recovery after injury, Pilates has steadily grown in popularity around the world.

“If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old, if it is completely flexible at 60, you are young! In 10 sessions you will feel the difference. In 20, you will see the difference. And in 30, you’ll have a whole new body!” Joseph Pilates

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of a number of different types of treatments physiotherapists can offer.

Often physiotherapists will use acupuncture alongside treatments such as exercise, joint mobilisation and general rehabilitation.

Recent research is now supporting the use of acupuncture, particularly in the management of pain, suggesting that it is effective in the treatment of low back pain, neck pain and osteoarthritis. Treatment will involve the use of sterile, single use needles. The needles are fine (a lot finer than an injection needle) and are inserted quickly through the skin and into the tissues.

Acupuncture needling should not be painful although some people do experience a pinprick or scratch like sensation. The needles can be in place for as little as a few seconds but more commonly will be in place for 10–30 minutes. Needles may be placed around the painful area, away from it in the hands or feet or even on the opposite side of the body.

Running Assessment

Running Assessment

Are you doing all you can to minimise the chances of developing injury?

We offer a comprehensive running assessment to runners of all abilities and specialise in the treatment and rehabilitation of running related injuries.

Whether you have just begun running for fun or you are a competitive marathon runner, a running assessment allows us to provide you with information regarding your technique which can then be used to modify your running style to allow you a more efficient pattern of movement. In doing this you are not only able to better prevent injury, but can also improve your running efficiency.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy

It helps to release tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance.

A typical craniosacral therapy session takes place in a quiet setting. You remain fully clothed as you relax on a comfortable treatment table.

Delicate, precise and effective manual techniques are carried out from the cranium and/or sacrum.

Your practitioner may also work on other parts of the body when that is relevant for you. Sometimes, the places where we experience symptoms differ from where the actual problem migrates.

Strength and Balance

Strength and Balance

Our Strength and Balance sessions focus on building muscle strength, improving joint mobility and posture, boosting movement confidence, enhancing general fitness, and enriching overall quality of life.

The key to our Strength and Balance sessions is that they are led by a fully qualified sports rehabilitation specialist with advanced clinical expertise in anatomy, biomechanics, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.

We’ll assess how you move, discuss your goals, and develop a program that suits you – delivered in our fully equipped private rehabilitation gym. You’ll also receive a customised plan to follow at home to support your progress between sessions.

Whether you’re managing conditions such as Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Parkinson’s disease, cardiovascular issues, or Diabetes – or you simply want to improve your balance and mobility – our tailored, exercise-based sessions will help you progress safely and effectively toward your goals.

Physiotherapy

We look holistically at each person and always undertake a detailed history of current and past medical conditions, work and lifestyle to understand the factors behind the cause of your problem.
